Great Mountain Guide Service offers a variety of guided Mt. Katahdin ascents for all skill levels. Numerous routes are available for families and beginners to the more adventurous, who want to experience the famed “Knife’s Edge” and “The Chimney.”
We take the guesswork out of planning and early each season we secure parking passes in advance for our groups on specific dates. We take care of all the details so you can simply relax and enjoy your climb.
Guests are not limited to specific dates and we are happy to arrange a guided Mt. Katahdin climb on a day of your choosing. Contact us for details.
Guided Hiking Trips
Baxter State Park and the surrounding region provides opportunities for guided day-hikes and overnight backcountry camping. Destinations such as Gulf Hagas and the Ice Caves in the Debsconeag Wilderness Area are just some of the options.
Guided Canoe Trips
For those who enjoy paddling we offer guided half-day, full-day and overnight canoeing excursions. Wildlife sightings are common in the Maine wilderness. No experience is necessary and we enjoy teaching paddle strokes and canoeing safety.
